For
Parents
Campers
benefit from Wander Wisconsin in countless ways, but don't
just take our word for it. Here are our goals and
a sampling of what parents have had to say:
There
are safe and secure places to be a child outside home and
school.
She
found out that she could be away from home and sleep in
a tent.
He
had opportunities to see new things and do activities we
could not do as a family.
She
was not too far from home, was with friends and trained
enthusiastic counselors, and having fun outdoors.
Caring
adult role models regularly interact with children.
The
trip leaders did a great job welcoming him and making him
feel included.
We
like the ratio of campers to trip leaders!
The
trip leaders were fun and caring and they were one of the
things my son liked most about the experience.
The
staff are excellent and come back yearly. Retention makes
a huge difference and is very comforting to my son and me.
Children
value themselves, others, and their environment.
She
has a growing respect for the outdoors and an increased
self-esteem.
It
was her first week away from home. She gained independence
and knew she was an asset to the group.
He
learned to participate and try new activities as a member
of new group of adult leaders and kids, living and playing
in Wisconsin's great state parks.
There
is encouragement and support for community engagement.
Meeting
new friends and traveling, he loved it!
The
small group size was great for my child.
He
had an opportunity to work as a team, being responsible
and accountable for his actions.
She
really blossomed in the small group as she is usually very
shy.
He
was able to be with people he was not familiar with and
appeared to fit right in.
Resources
are available for children to explore and pursue their individual
interests.
It
was a great introduction to overnight camping.
He
has experienced new adventures like caving and canoeing.
She
gained confidence with regards to camping skills and being
in the woods.
Having
his first camp experience be so much fun has made him eager
for more. She learned that she likes camping
and wants to do more of it.
Resources
are available for children's educational support and enrichment.
He loved
learning and playing in the woods.
She appreciated
the freedom to make choices.
He has learned
about different places in Wisconsin.
She has
more confidence, higher self-esteem, and is willing to
try more things.
Wander Wisconsin
provides experiences that many families cannot provide
but are critical to healthy development.
