Answers to Common Questions

Will there be other kids my age?
Yes! Wander Wisconsin trips are divided into three age groups. Travel Clubs and Kid Campouts for 8-12 year olds, Tent Treks for 10-13 year olds, and Teen Adventures for 13-16 year olds.

Where will I sleep?
On most Wander Wisconsin trips campers sleep in tents.  There is an area for boys' tents and an area for girls' tents.  On most of the school year trips when the weather is colder campers sleep in heated cabins.

What will we eat?
Delicious, kid friendly food is an important part of a Wander Wisconsin trip. You will have a chance to help decide what the meals on your trip are going to be. The trip leaders will help you to plan out the menus and teach you about outdoor cooking.

What should I pack?
We’ll send you a letter before your trip with a list of what you should bring. In the meantime you can check out the packing lists right here on the web site.

Can I bring my Gameboy, Ipod, books or other personal items?
Yes, personal games, toys, books or headphones are good for the ride to our destination. The Trip Leaders will let you know when these items need to be put away. You are responsible if your stuff gets lost, damaged, or stolen so think about what you want to bring along and what you want to keep at home.

What if I don’t know anybody?
We will spend the first day getting to know each other. So, by the end of the first day of the trip you will have a whole new group of friends to enjoy your adventure with. You could also invite a friend to sign up for the same trip you are on.

Can I bring snacks or candy?
Yes, you can bring some snacks or candy along if you would like. We ask that you bring enough to share with the rest of the group (a max. of 11 other campers on overnight trips). We also ask that you tell the Trip Leaders about your snack so they can pick a good time for you to share it with everyone.

Who are the Trip Leaders?
The Trip Leaders are people who have worked with kids for a long time and who know about Wisconsin and the outdoors. Their jobs are to make sure that you are safe and having the time of your life! Find out more in the Trip Leaders section of the web site.

What are we going to do?
Every Wander Wisconsin trip is unique so look carefully at the Trip Descriptions before you pick a trip. All Wander Wisconsin trips include staying at and exploring a great state park and the surrounding areas, swimming, fun special events at Wisconsin attractions, getting to know a great group of kids your age, great food, evening campfires and plenty of good old Wander Wisconsin fun!

What time do we have to go to sleep at night?
The Trip Leaders will let you know on the first day of the trip. It depends on the age of the group and what is happening the next day. The Trip Leaders want to make sure you are safe and healthy and that you have enough rest for all of the activity and fun of the next day.
