Kalahari Water Park

Slide and splash at one of America's largest water parks and one of THE LARGEST indoor water parks anywhere.

Thursday - Milwaukee

Milwaukee Public Museum / Humphrey IMAX Theatre

Spend a day exploring one of the best natural history museums in the country and experience a movie on the IMAX screen!

Friday - Wisconsin Dells

Mt. Olympus Water & Theme Park

Rollercoasters, go carts and waterslides await you at this Wisconsin Dells megapark.

Wizard Quest

Wizard Quest is an interactive fantasy game played in a 13,000 square foot, themed labyrinth called the quadrasphere.   Your quest is to locate and release the imprisoned wizards.   To do this you must collect "glimmers" and navigate your way through the quadrasphere which is full of secret passages, hidden entrances and some traps.

Pirate's Cove Adventure Golf

Putt around the wild and wacky carpeted landscapes of Wisconsin Dells' largest mini-golf course.

Wisconsin Ducks

It is excitement on wheels and waves aboard the Original Wisconsin Ducks.   Climb aboard and see some of the coolest rock formations in Wisconsin Dells.

On Wednesday, pack your bag for a two-night camping trip to Mirror Lake State Park to put the skills you've learned into practice.  We'll hike, play games, cook out, fish, swim and go canoeing.

CAMPSITE

Mirror Lake State Park

This park is named for its centerpiece, a lake which often is so calm that not a ripple marks its surface. The lake reflects a wooded shoreline with cliffs up to 50 feet high, a swimming beach, and wetlands that are home to a variety of wildlife.

TRIP HIGHLIGHTS

Sunday

Depart for Wildcat Mountain State Park and set up camp.

Monday

Explore Wisconsin's subterranean world at Popp's Cave near Richland Center.  In some places the cave is 50 feet below the entrance, 70 feet below the surface, and 645 feet long.  The cave includes a few large rooms connected by passages which, at times, are fairly small.  Explore under the supervision of the experienced cavers from Family Service.

Canoeing on the Kickapoo River

Wednesday

Exploring and swimming at Wildcat Mountain State Park.

Thursday

Mt. Olympus Water & Theme Park

Rollercoasters, go carts and waterslides await you at this Wisconsin Dells water and theme park.

Friday

Clean up camp, choose some favorite activities and return to Madison.

Drop-off and pick-up is at the Madison Outpost (map).

Sunday Drop-Off: 9:00 a.m. / Friday Pick-up: 5:00 p.m.

Wildcat Mountain State Park

On a steep ridge overlooking the scenic Kickapoo River Valley, Wildcat Mountain State Park offers hiking trails with spectacular views, group camping, canoeing on the Kickapoo River, and a nature center with interpretive programs.

Parfrey's Glen

Wisconsin's oldest state natural area, Parfrey's Glen, is

in the southeast corner of Devil's Lake State Park. It is a special and fragile place with unique plants, animals, and geology.

Noah's Ark Water Park

Splash and slide at America's largest waterpark!

Friday

Clean up camp, choose some favorite activities and return to Madison.

At Devil's Lake State Park, 500-foot quartzite bluffs formed 1.5 billion years ago tower above a 360-acre lake. The 9,117-acre state park is 2 miles south of Barabo0 and about 30 miles north of Madison. More people visit Devil's Lake State Park annually-1.2 to 1.4 million-than any other state park in Wisconsin. Devil's Lake has 29.9 miles of hiking trails, two swimming beaches, nearly 100 species of birds (close to half the total in Wisconsin), and well maintained group campsites.

The "splash down " to fun begins on Monday when we head to the Kalahari, the home of the largest indoor water park anywhere.  

Wisconsin Ducks

Whether it is rolling ripples in the lazy rivers or pulse-pounding theme rides, Wet 'N' Wild in the Dells has something for everyone!

Lake Fishing in Hayward

Some of the finest fishing in the state of Wisconsin can be found in Sawyer County and the Hayward Lakes area. Trophy musky, walleye, smallmouth bass and panfish all swim in these waters with many monster fish being taken annually. Moose Lake and the world famous Chippewa Flowage are some of the bodies of water we have to choose from.

National Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame in Hayward

The highlight of the museum complex is a landmark "Shrine to Anglers" which is a structure one-half city block long and four and one-half stories tall, of concrete, steel and fiberglass, hand-sculpted into the likeness of a leaping fish (Muskie). Its innards are a museum and its gaping open jaw accommodates about 20 persons or more as an observation platform. The landmark is surrounded by a quarter-acre nature pond.

Fly Fishing on the Bois Brule River

Spend a day with fly fishing experts who will introduce you to the art of fly fishing.

Duluth Charter Boat Fishing

Experience fishing on Lake Supervior for king salmon, lake trout, coho and others with the help of an experienced charter boat fishing guide.

Amnicon Falls State Park

Amnicon Falls State Park is best known for the beautiful Amnicon River, a cornerstone of the park.   Amnicon meaning "where the fish spawn" was name by the Ojibwa Indians.   This 825-acre park features waterfalls and rapids along the Amnicon River.   There is a covered foot bridge that allows visitors to look downstream to red sandstone believed to be 3,000 feet deep.

Kayaking with Bayshore Outdoor Store

Spend three mornings learning to kayak with the pros from the Bayshore Outdoor Store.   Learn paddling basics and kayak safety before exploring the beautiful Door County coastline in solo or tandem kayaks.

Biking at Peninsula State Park

With over nine miles of trails to explore, Peninsula State Park offers a variety of terrain for our biking adventure.   We will rent bikes at the park.

Touring Door County

When you're not on the water or biking through the park, you'll have plenty of time to play at the beach, explore the miles of shoreline and visit local attractions.

Participants must be in good physical condition and present Wander Wisconsin with a valid American Red Cross Level IV Swim Card or equivalent.

Peninsula State Park

Peninsula State Park, established in 1909, is a 3,776-acre state treasure on Wisconsin's Door County peninsula. Nearly seven miles of Lake Michigan's Green Bay shoreline wrap around a landscape of forests, meadows and wetlands.   Rocky bluffs ascend over 150 feet while deer graze contentedly in abandoned farm fields. Considered Wisconsin's most complete park, Peninsula is also its most popular camping destination.

The Black River State Forest includes approximately 67,000 acres in northern Wisconsin. The area is unique among the state forests mainly because of its geological features.   Hike to the top of Castle Mound, visit the Black River Falls area, canoe the Black River and enjoy the magnificent natural setting of the Black River State Forest.

The Wisconsin Maritime Museum's USS COBIA overnight is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience first-hand a taste of the submarine lifestyle.   Campers will receive a guided tour and spend the night on board a World War II submarine.

 

Experimental Aircraft Association's AirVenture, Oshkosh

The world's greatest aviation celebration and premier aviation event.   Campers will try their hands at virtual flying using flight simulators, control-line flying and building their own balsa glider.   A visit to the EAA AirVenture Museum will also be part of this interactive experience.

Speedzone Raceway, Oshkosh

Wisconsin's premier dirt race track.   Campers will see exciting racing action at Wisconsin's best dirt track racing facilities!

High Cliff State Park

Our home in the Green Bay Area, High Cliff is the only state-owned recreational area on Lake Winnebago, Wisconsin's largest lake.   The park has a marina, historic sites, a campground, picnic areas and shelters, a beach, observable wildlife, play areas and great campsites.

Rafting at Wildman Whitewater Ranch

Northern Highlands Two Night Canoe Trip

Northern Highlands State Forest

The forest is characterized by its abundance of scenic lakes and streams.  There are over 900 lakes that lie within the forest boundary and there are numerous streams and rivers.  Hiking through the forest means seeing and appreciating the beauty of the forest, swamps, lake shores and streams.  The abundance of trails throughout the forest provide an excellent way to listen to a variety of birds, to view wildlife and to observe the diverse plant species found here.  A wide variety of wildlife and bird species that occur in northern Wisconsin can be found within the forest.  Be sure to keep your eyes open to see a soaring bald eagle or your ears tuned in to hear a loon or two.
